Photoshop - Designing Logos

A powerful "Corporate Logo" is one of the most valuable assets a business can have - MANY of the biggest companies use a simple "Text Based" logo that is relatively easy to create in Photoshop:

FONT CHARACTERISTICS:
  • Easy to Read
  • Simple Colour Schemes
  • Thick Lettering
  • No "artistic" fonts
The Rules of Good Commercial Graphic Design:
  1. The message (or Brand Name) must be clear and EASY TO READ
  2. The logo must translate well to various media and to black and white

See how well the above logos translate to black & white graphics for letterhead, faxes or business cards:

Exercise1 - Use photoshop to try to precisely duplicate three of the above logos.
  • Use an 800 x 600 pixel canvas @ 72PDPI
  • Match the FONTS first - you'll see a font preview in the font selection list
  • Use the MOVE tool (and the CONTROL key if necessary) to modify the general shape of the text objects.
